Côte d'Ivoire: A Driver of African Agriculture at SIA 2026

Agricultural Powerhouse
Agriculture plays a leading role in Côte d'Ivoire, accounting for 22% of the country's GDP and 60% of its employment.
The country is notably:
- The world’s leading producer of cocoa, cashew nuts, and kola nuts;
- Africa’s top producer of dessert bananas and natural rubber;
- A key player in the coffee, cotton, and mango sectors.
This position is supported by favorable natural conditions, a deep-rooted expertise, and ambitious agricultural policies aimed at strengthening the country’s food security and sovereignty while significantly reducing rural poverty.
Agriculture in Transformation
Côte d'Ivoire is now ready to take on the challenge of local industrial transformation. The country is developing modern agro-industrial hubs that integrate agricultural production, social services, training, marketing, and product valorization. The goals are to capture greater added value, attract investors, and create jobs.
At the same time, Côte d'Ivoire is working to develop its livestock sectors (pigs, poultry, cattle, fish) to reduce its dependence on imports.
This strategy is supported by a strong commitment to sustainable agriculture, with programs focused on forest and water resource management.
