Unique in Europe, chaired and governed by farmers, Acta coordinates and represents 19 agricultural technical institutes, professional organizations for applied research and technology transfer to farmers and across all agricultural and forestry sectors. Each institute focuses on issues specific to its sector(s), such as arable crops, livestock farming, fruit and vegetables, viticulture, specialized crops (ornamental crops, plants for perfume, aromatic and medicinal plants, algae-based products, etc.), organic farming, or overseas productions. The Acta network relies on the expertise of nearly 2,400 employees, including 1,950 PhDs, engineers and technicians, and 200 sites in mainland France and overseas, to foster innovation, address agricultural and environmental challenges, and support farmers in the agroecological and digital transitions of agricultural, forestry and agro-industrial sectors, for all forms of agriculture. Within the network, the agricultural technical institutes are engaged in a collaborative dynamic, pooling their expertise and sharing their innovations through national cross-cutting projects and programs
