SIA’PRO 2027: meet the ‘three musketeers’ behind the trade fair’s conferences

Behind the SIA’PRO conferences lie three complementary profiles that share a common ambition: to draw on real-world experiences to provide practical solutions to the challenges faced by agricultural professionals. With the 2027 edition fast approaching, we meet Marie-Laure Hustache, Pierre Compère and Alain Savary, the three curators setting the tone for this programme. Their philosophy: practical approaches, multidisciplinary expertise and solutions that are of direct benefit to farmers.
Three different paths, one shared ambition for agriculture
"We are a passionate bunch, sometimes known as the ‘Three Musketeers’ of SIA’PRO, with three particularly complementary perspectives, who have come together once again this season to enthusiastically put together the programme of talks"

Marie-Laure Hustache

As the founder of L’Agence de Marie-Laure, I support businesses, organisations and institutions with their communications, their media relations and their events. A graduate of Sciences Po Grenoble and the Institut Français de Presse, my career path has taken me from journalism to communications, with one common thread: the agricultural and agri-food sector, which has, over the years, become my area of specialism.

Pierre Compère

As an agricultural engineer and independent consultant, I support entrepreneurs and decision-makers in the agricultural, water and environmental sectors. Through Explicite Conseil, I help organisations develop their strategies, identify useful innovations and strengthen their capacity for cooperation. In particular, I bring to the SIA’PRO conferences a cross-disciplinary perspective combining agronomy, innovation and economic models .

Alain Savary

Having qualified as an agricultural engineer from Unilasalle Beauvais and gone on to complete an MBA in Management at ESSEC, I have devoted a large part of my career to agricultural cooperatives and agricultural machinery, notably as director of AXEMA, the trade organisation representing manufacturers in the sector. I am particularly interested in new technologies, agricultural robotics and the agroecological transition. Since stepping down from my operational role, I have been putting this experience to good use in projects that help to drive progress in agriculture.

Conferences designed to address the real issues facing farmers

The SIA’PRO conferences have proved hugely popular since their launch in 2025. How do you explain this?

Agricultural professionals need to break out of their isolation, exchange ideas with their peers and take a step back to reflect on both their practices and their prospects. It is precisely on the basis of this expectation that we have developed the editorial approach for the SIA’PRO conferences. Our starting point is not the latest trends, but the practical questions that agricultural business leaders ask themselves. For example: how can you become more self-reliant and improve your profit margins? How can you bounce back when your market is shrinking? Should we continue with organic farming or consider other options? We want to provide answers to these questions that go beyond mere theoretical discussion. Each topic brings together expert knowledge and feedback from professionals who have already faced these challenges. The aim is simple: to provide insights, share practical strategies and enable everyone to leave with ideas they can put to use on their farm.

In 2027, the conferences will form part of the exhibition’s broader professional programme and will be open to all interested visitors. Another opportunity to bring together professionals, agriculture enthusiasts and consumers keen to gain a better understanding of the realities of the sector.

How do you choose the topics and put the programme together?

We’re setting off from the pitch. Throughout the year, we listen to farmers and other stakeholders in the sector, monitor developments within the industry and take note of new concerns as they arise, particularly in professional discussions. We then select the topics that merit further exploration, before structuring each talk around a simple question, phrased in the way a farm manager might ask it. We are therefore looking for the most relevant contributors : experts, researchers, practitioners or farmers who have already tried out solutions. This approach enables us to compare different perspectives, to generate ideas – some of which may be new – and to prioritise meaningful discussions. We also ensure diversity in terms of profiles, regions, farm sizes and production methods, not to mention the human and social aspects of the profession.

What key themes will shape the 2027 conferences?

The topics, speakers and exact time slots will be finalised with the SIA team and announced at a later date. One thing is certain, however: climate change will be a recurring theme at the conferences. For many farmers, the summer of 2026 turned everything on its head. Natural disasters have struck one after another, compounding the existing difficulties and undermining their ability to produce and make a living from their trade. Following a heatwave of unprecedented intensity and duration, which affected every region, the challenge is no longer simply to envisage the future of agriculture. The focus now is on preparing and supporting agricultural business leaders, as well as the entire agricultural and agro-industrial ecosystem, to make farms and supply chains more resilient to unforeseen events. The SIA’PRO 2027 conferences will therefore address climate change from a cross-cutting perspective throughout the discussions: what was once exceptional is now becoming a new reality with which the agricultural sector must come to terms.

See you at SIA’PRO 2027!

The SIA’PRO conferences will take place from Monday 1st to Friday 5 March 2027, in Hall 5.2, within the Forum area. There will be two sessions each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each lasting 30 minutes and led by Pierre Compère or Marie-Laure Hustache. The discussions can then continue at the Café des Agris (right next door), where you can carry on chatting in a relaxed atmosphere. The detailed programme and timetable will be published on the website. In the meantime, you can watch the talks from previous editions on the SIA’PRO YouTube channel.
